Our Emergency Dentistry Office Can Help After Hours

What is emergency dentistry?

Emergency dentistry is the service provided by a few select dentists to their patients at all hours of the day or night, in order to ensure that their patients do not have to deal with the discomfort of dental pain. For the most part, emergency dentists are no different from any other dentist. We provide the same kind of services as your regular dentist. This means we have patients coming in for denture appointments, kids about braces, people for fillings, and a whole slew of people for their regular bi-annual examination and cleaning. All of this happens within the parameters of regular business hours, which is when most dentists operate.

We also provide emergency services long after your typical 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, after most dentists have gone home. We discovered that accidents do not tend to happen within the happy confines of a working week. In fact, many accidents happen when our patient – you – are enjoying leisure time with your friends and family. This normally is after work and on the weekends. For example, your child is more likely to fall down on the soccer field leading to a loosened tooth on the weekend, rather than during the school day when they are doing homework. Because tooth pain is one of the most acute a person can suffer, we do not want you to have to wait until Monday morning to have your dental issues dealt with. We provide you with the care you need for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so you never have to face dental discomfort again.

Do I need emergency dentistry?

If you are asking that question while dealing with a profound toothache at 1 a.m. on a Sunday morning, chances are that the answer is yes. Many people need emergency dentistry and do not even know it until an emergency occurs. Emergencies can take many forms in the dental world. For 26 percent of the population that hates visiting the dentist under any circumstances, they are willing to take a little pain to avoid seeing the dentist at all. If you are one of these people and the little pain keeps growing until you can no longer control it with over-the-counter pain medication, if the pain has become sharp or throbbing in nature, or if it keeps coming back after being dispelled, you may have an oral infection and it is time to see the dentist, emergency or otherwise. At other times, it is very obvious that you need to get emergency dentistry. If you have had an accident that involves dental trauma of any magnitude, you should seek out an emergency dentist. This is particularly true if the tooth has been knocked out. Once a tooth is out of the socket, there is a finite amount of time before we can no longer save the tooth, so you should come in for emergency dentistry immediately.
